This is a difficult question to answer, as there are many companies who make very good quality and reliable CO2 Air Pistols. In terms of build quality and likeness to real guns, Umarex make some of the best out there. Crosman also make a great range of CO2 Air Pistols.
In our opinion, one of the best pellet hand guns is the Crosman 2240. It is finished brilliantly, holds extremely well and fires very accurately. The 2240 is probably one of the only pistols that we could firmly recommend as a close-range ratting pistol, as well as something to fire down the range or in the garden. Overall, a great all rounder and something that doesn’t break the bank too.
All air pistols in the UK are subject to the legal limit of being below 6ft/lbs. Most air pistols and replicas are 2-3ft/lbs, as they are not made to have high power. One of the most powerful is the Crosman 2240, coming in at around 5-5.5ft/lbs.
There are some very accurate air pistols which are typically used for indoor 10m match tournaments. These are specifically designed to be as accurate as possible, and PCP air pistols are most commonly used as they are virtually recoilless. Some of the most accurate are the Crosman 1701P, Hammerli AP20, Walther LP500 and FWB P11. Of course this is only our opinion, and accuracy mostly depends on the shooter, and not the equipment.
